The hero of FFXII is Vaan, a 17-year old boy from Dalmasca whose family was killed during the Arcadian invasion. He wishes is to escape Dalmasca and become an air pirate.
The girl 19 yr old, Ashe, is also a victim of the Arcadia Empire. The dethroned princess of Dalmasca, Ashe is the only proper heir to the kingdom. Presumed missing, she's secretly leading an underground resistance against the Arcadians. Unlike Vaan, Ashe's loss has made her bitter and vengeful. Eventually, their paths cross and they go on a grand adventure in their war-torn world.

Now the story can be told...

That is the story of a world called Ivalice.
The strong military kingdom known as the Arcadia Empire that rules the Valentia Continent,
And the Rosalia Empire that rules the Ordalia Continent have been continuously at war for long years.

In the midst of it, Arcadia Empire invaded the small kingdom of Dalmasca, Positioned in the hallway between the two continents and thus is geopolitically important.

Under the invasion of the Arcadia Empire, the Dalmasca Kingdom accepted defeat.

But Ashe, the rightful heir to the trone of Dalmasca,
Joined the resistance army movements to fight against the empire. The enemy's chase and attack of this girl with the liberation of her mother nation in heart is severe,
But, she can not be defeated.
At this moment, she meets the young man Vaan.
With this meeting, begins the change in Ashe's heart. And thus... The meeting of these two people will greatly change the story of this world.

Posted by eradinn on 23 Mar 2007 | 0 comments It was assumed Square-Enix's Final Fantasy XIII was a PS3 exclusive for some time, especially given the series affinity with the PlayStation, but now it appears other formats could be getting in on the act - as with Devil My Cry 4, Assassin's Creed and GTA IV before it.

GameSpot quote the SCEF boss thusly: "The development costs of games have exploded, and it has become more difficult to have exclusives, outside of our own games. But we have for launch day 30 games, including MotorStorm, Resistance: Fall of Man, and Virtua Fighter 5. Moreover, we are expecting 200 games [for the PS3] by the end of 2007...As far as Final Fantasy XIII goes, I can tell you that the exclusivity is in discussion."

'In discussion'? Surely Square-Enix can't be considering dropping Sony in it when they need them most, can they? Still, Fornay was upbeat on the console's chances, mooting 60,000 (more than the Xbox 360, less than the Wii) pre-orders in France and 150,000 units available for day one. He also said backwards compatibility won't be issue when gamers get to grips with next-gen titles.

So FFXIII exclusivity is still possible, but is subject to some negotiation, perhaps linked to the aforementioned 'high development costs' .
